Welcome
I’m Dr. Kristin Vaughn, a licensed psychologist and the owner of the Austin Mindfulness Center. If you've come to this website, it’s likely that you are currently experiencing a sense of being stuck in painful emotion, or perhaps a pattern of behavior that does not reflect how you want to live your life.
The good news is that you are taking the right step in seeking help! Therapy can be extremely impactful in several ways. First, simply having a safe space to talk about what is going on can be very powerful in the healing process. Second, therapy helps you to gain new understanding about problems that may have previously seemed impossible to understand. Finally, therapy can provide concrete skills and tools that will help you to cope with life's stresses in new and more effective ways.
How I Work
After years working as a therapist, and through my own personal ups and downs, I have discovered that the practice of mindfulness can have a deep and powerful impact on the experience of life. It has helped me to feel more stable and centered, and has also helped my clients to find new ways of responding to their own emotions and life challenges. Because of this, I have a mission to teach people about mindfulness through both individual counseling, groups, and education.
If you are ready to get started and would like to see me individually, please check my availability. If my schedule is full, I encourage you to reach out to one of the other great therapists on our team. Please also consider taking the 5-day Mindfulness Challenge and/or enrolling in a mindfulness course like MBSR or MBCT.
